Default Double Debilitator

Profession: R/Me

Name: Double Debilitator

Type: Energy Denial, General PvP

Attributes:
14 Expertise (10+3+1)
11 Marksmanship (10+1)
12 Wilderness Survival (11+1)

Skills:
1. Apply Poison/Kindle Arrows
2. Serpent's Quickness
3. Echo {Elite} (Unlinked)
4. Debilitating Shot
5. Distracting Shot
6. Pin Down
7. Throw Dirt
8. Resurrection Signet

Recommended gear:
Druid's armor set
Zealous Shortbow of [whatever you like]

Summary
:
This build is not designed to deal damage. Instead, it is designed to keep a single target low on energy for an extended period of time. How this is achieved is as follows - use your preparation, whether it be Apply Poison or Kindle Arrows, and then start Serpent's Quickness and cast Echo. After Echo is complete, you should fire a Debilitating Shot. You should now have 2 Debilitating Shot's on your skill bar because of Echo. With Serpent's Quickness bringing their recharges down, Expertise bringing their costs down to 4, and your zealous bowstring (if you chose a zealous bow) sapping an energy with each arrow strike, you should be able to fire off a Debilitating Shot with almost every attack. If they do manage to get enough energy to cast, you have Distracting Shot to interrupt them. Pin Down is used to keep the target from fleeing your energy-denial assault. Throw Dirt is used when under pressure from melee, or to protect teammates.
Substitutions that can be made in this build are Savage or Concussion Shot for Distracting Shot (according to personal preference), Point Blank Shot for Pin Down or Throw Dirt (if the user desires an avenue of damage-dealing), and Quickening Zephyr makes a nice addition to the build, providing the rest of the team is okay with it. It increases energy costs and decreases recharge, making it harder for everyone to cast spells and use energy skills, but with Expertise reduction that doesn't bother you *too* much, and the decreased recharge allows you to fire Debilitating Shot *every* attack.

Notes and Concerns:
The Double Debilitator does not deal a lot of damage. He/she cannot kill a target alone - this is a support character build, designed to shut down a caster-type, not kill him/her. All of the Double Debilitator's efforts can be countered by a simple block/evade stance or enchantment, so a necromancer with Rigor Mortis and enchantment removal would be a big plus to have on the team. This build flourishes most in 8v8 settings, as in 4v4 the team needs most of its members to be able to deal damage.

Credits:
Special thanks to my guild buddy Flint Ironoak for showing me the merits of the elite Echo on a ranger. This build was tested by Daeron Shadowsong in the Competition Arenas and the Tomb of Primeval Kings.

Add QZ and you're set.
Though you might have troubles with energy as well.

I like this build.
I've tested it out a few weeks ago but never posted my feedback here.
It works great. Just make sure your arrows hit or you're completely useless, besides the throw dirt.
Zealous helps alot.

nice one. This used to be my build before (not saying you copied me or anything). It used to be soooo much better when debilating shot had the 4 second recharge, but sadly they nerfed it. It was so good it can even shutdown the E/Mo smiter with ether renewal. I don't abuse it as much now but I play it from time to time. Try playing it with mind wrack and you have your damage

Have you considered using Flourish (Warrior elite) instead of Echo? It'll recharge both Debilitating and Distracting Shot when you activate it. Plus it's affected by Expertise and gives back energy, so that'll help out in the long run (albeit a tiny bit). And also you can try swapping Slot 1 for Read the Wind to make your arrows miss less often.

try this build

Distracting Shot
Debilitating Shot
Read the Wind
Flourish{Elite}
Hunters Shot
Pin Down
Dodge
Res Signet

Put alot into expertise and markmanship and your set

This way you dont need to put points into wilderness survival. It's fun watching a monk run from this only to start bleeding from hunters shot and get pinned down. Same goes for warriors, pindown + dodge ftw.
I'm not saying that my build is surperior, just another option.

One of my old favorites. I recommend Read The Wind instead of Kindle or Apply for an (almost) guaranteed hit.

My worry is not running targets, Pin Down takes care of that. My worry for missing my target is those that use block/evade stances. I don't miss that much with my bow, and like the added degen from Apply Poison.

As for Flourish, it is a Strength linked skill for one and doesn't seem to provide that much of an advantage over Echo for two. I welcome people use Flourish, I just prefer Echo since it's unlinked and can be used to copy one of my other skills in a pinch.

Mind Wrack would require some points in Domination Magic, which I was unwilling to spare. It is certainly possible for a build variant though, a great idea.

Thread Resurrected.

I am glad I found this build. It's awesome and pretty much fun on AB, FA.

I tweaked it a bit so it looks like this:

The build is fun when paired with a E-Denial/Mind Whack and another ranger with Famine.
I guess you can replace Pin Down for Resurrection Signet on PVP/GVG situations.

Its a decent setup but anymonk worth his salts would have a negitiave energy set so you would be barely effecting him as he can easily hide his energy and just weapon swap to cast. I would run seeking to by pass shields up and the like. Overall ok for ab/ra ect worthless in Gvg/Ha.

I don't think he could afford to run Seeking Arrows in that build.

Echo
Troll Unguent
Seeking Arrows
Throw Dirt
Serpant's Quickness
Debillitating Arrow
Pin Down
Ressurection Signet

that's how I'd adjust his build. and I'd keep expertise at 12, no need to exaggerate. No interrupts, I know, but you're planning to energy drain him till he's paralysed, right? =P

For an AB i'd rather bring Melandrus Arrows as the elite. The sheer number of Eles, Mending/HH Wammos and Boon Prots makes the conditional not so conditional anymore.
